Knackered for WOYWW

I am knackered, pooped,
tired out, totally had it
and any other word that describes
how I feel right now.
Before I get into why
I'll show you my desk this week.

As you can see
I had a sketchy weekend.
I went to the art shop to buy
some charcoal and came away
with the coolest looking pencil case
(I had one just like this in high school)
which contained 20 different coloured
fineliner pens, then of course I had to buy
journals to use the pens in.
Here are a few of the sketches
as well as my darlek pencils in the wheelie bin
and if you look closely you can see
my sonic screwdriver pen amongst the boring ones.
Yes' I know, I'm a sad puppy.

On a different note, at last I have figured out
how to do a Facebook Page for my art.
I'd love it if you would like me at
I don't use the personal part of Facebook
so if you would just use the page
I would love it.
I might even figure out how to get
a button on the blog side bar at some point.

I spent monday and tuesday
at a life drawing workshop.
You know the kind,
where they have a nudie person
for you to draw.
This was my first such class and
I had a few worries.
I'm not a prude, well,
I'm a bit of a prude, okay
I'm a prude.
My hubby flaunts his bits all around the place
but I keep my bits to myself
and I'm sure you can understand
my fears at attending this workshop.
My teacher De (who has a really evil streak)
assured me that I needed to learn how to draw
from "life".
Both mornings were theory
(no nudie people yet, so still smiling)
We did scribbles
I heard that giggle!!
and woggles
Now that was a down right laugh, I can hear you, you know!
and eventually something that looked like a human.
(it's okay, I don't draw the rude bits).
Hah, not so bad this time, is it. Yeah, she is a little skinny in the leg department but it's better the the other ones.
We learned lots of practical ways to look
and work out size and where to start drawing.
So far so good.
Then to the afternoon and yes you guessed it,
the nudie lady.
I tell you, I didn't even notice that
she didn't have any clothes on.
They had a stop watch and you had to draw
so quickly that my charcoal
was smoking.
I was lucky to get a stick figure out
let alone a proper picture.
All the theory was spinning around
in my head.
My eyes were telling my brain one thing
and then the hand would disagree and just
draw something else, then the brain was yelling at my hand
and my eyes were just spinning
in their sockets
and all I could hear was
"TIMES UP"
Honestly, if I didn't like that man so much,
he would be wearing that stopwatch
where the sun don't shine!
You think that's bad,
all of a sudden my teacher yells,
turn your easels and lets all share
our pictures.
I just wanted to curl up and disappear
with embarrassment.
But hey, I made it through (just)
and even came back the next day.
Now that in itself should be worth some
browny points with my teacher.
What's that? You want to have a laugh
at my terrible drawings.
Well fine, here are a few
(with carefully placed hiding things)
go on have a good giggle.
Don't you just love those stick figures.
My apologies to Salvador Dali,
that's the bloke I was supposed to draw
but instead ended up with some
broken nosed boxer with a mo.

After all the pain of the life drawing class
it was a pleasure to go back to my normal
art class today.
I did some more to my seagulls
with huge amounts of help
from my teacher De.
(I think I used up those brownie points).
It still has a long way to go but getting there.

I've waffled on a bit but hey,
you have to agree it was a big week.
On top of all this I had to do my online
sketchbook class.
This week was drawing selfies
 and there's no way
I'm showing these in public
even if my clothes are on!

So now, if you are still awake,
why not go to
and visit the
other desks around the world
this workdesk wednesday.

P.S. Don't forget to have a look at my Facebook Page
and let me know what you think.
Please be gentle, I'm new at this social media stuff.

Bitsa week for WOYWW

It's been a bitsa this and
bitsa that week.
I'm doing a sketchbook course
and that's what is on my desk.
No boring paperwork anymore
I've finished it and I even
filed it away.
Now that's a first for me!
No it's not on the floor
I actually filed it in the filing cabinet!
See, the desk is still quite tidy :)

For my sketchbook course we had to draw
 something with lots of detail.
So I decided to do my iron,
(hey it's far better than actually ironing with it).
You can see 6 ink pens,
would you believe all but one were
dried up, talk about pain in the bum.
The sweets are for my sugar fix.
I got them free with some printer ink,
that alone keeps me going back them :)

How cute are my new drawers.
I bought them to hide all the rubbish that sits on
top of the printer and they go perfectly with
my Tardis and Darlek.

I had a finish bits week with my painting.

I finished off my beautiful pelican.
"Mr P Makes Waves"
Just look at all that delicious texture.

I love him so much I'm going to keep him.

Then I put on the hanger and sealed
 my other painting.
"Sailing at Sunset"
This has heaps of mica paint but
it doesn't show up in the photo
and then I started a new canvas

 Yep, back on birds again.

In class I'm doing this monstrosity

Mess

Super messy,

It's seagulls fighting over
some food in the water.
I have to tell you that cos
there's no way you would see that
at this stage.
The ink's just gone down and
it will be totally different when I
get to class next week.

It's been a turbulent week with
Charlie parrot and trying to get
his medicine into him.
If you can imagine one little parrot
and three adults holding him down
you might get the picture.
I always get the pointy end
but I still have most of my fingers left.

That's my desk for this week,
now why not hop on over to
and see what's on the other desks
around the world this wednesday.

Blah, paperwork for WOYWW

My desk is no fun this week.
I've left my tax until the last minute
and now all I have on my
"art" desk is paperwork.
Blah, just like the old days
when I was a boring old bookkeeper.
(sigh).
Such a sad sight
and to make it worse,
the number one man in my life
is ill.
No, not my hubby
 he's way down the list.
It's my beautiful boy, Charlie the parrot.

He started picking at his feet and it wasn't mites.
Turns out he has extremely high
cholesterol, yes you heard right,
birds get high cholesterol
and no it wasn't all my fault,
well mostly, oh alright,
it was my fault.
I have had him for 24 years and fed him on
the finest quality parrot seed and
what ever veggies we are having,
in fact all the foods we eat
(he loves a good curry)
including his penchant for
Ferrero Rocher chocolates.
But it was the seed that caused
most of the problems.
Who knew that you shouldn't feed a bird seed.

Once he's feeling better I have to put him
on a strict diet of special pellets
and veggies
but he can still have the odd chocolate.

Trying to get his medication down his throat
is my biggest problem right now.
Who would have thought
this innocent looking little fellow
could be so strong and smart.
I've tried everything to get him to take his medicine.
It always ends the same,
I end up wearing the medicine.
If I put it on some food, he throws it at me.
If it gets put on some bread he throws it in his water bowl.
I tried holding him down but who knew he
could get that bottom beak around the top one
and bite a persons finger!
The vet assured me that all birds love this stuff
and it tastes like honey.
The only trouble is,
he isn't a bird, he's a flamin
 smart alec human wannabe!!

Just think how hard it's going to be to get
him off of seed and onto pellets.

Amidst the chaos of this week
I did do a little bit of painting
on my boat.

I've started to add more light and shade
to the boat and
I added some oldness to the seats.
My teacher was explaining to us that there
should always be an element of death or age
Prior to shading.
to a painting to make it more real.
If you do a vase of flowers
there should always be a blemish or dead
leaf or petal.
So I decided to make the boat
a bit old and broken.

I'll do a bit to the hull as well
and then add some more contrast,
but it's looking good so far.

After a layer of shading, more to come.
Well that's me for this week,
now why don't you hop on over to
to see the other desks around the world
this workdesk wednesday.

Did you notice that apart from the tax stuff,
the room is still quite tidy!!!!
Surely that's worth a couple of brownie points??

Spring does scary things for WOYWW

There are people who go a bit loopy
when there is a full moon
and there are people,
like me,
who, apart from being loopy
most of the time, go extra loopy
in springtime.
Yes, spring has sprung with avengeance
around here.
I have to warn you, there is some scary
content further down this post.
Those weak of heart should sit down now.

But first, to my desk

Nothing new here, it's been school holidays
so no art just madness.

Then on thursday we decided to go to Ikea.
Little Miss got lots for her room
an I got these little beauties
for my art room.

Trouble was, I couldn't move once they were in there.
That's when it happened.
I got this strange (spring has sprung) urge
and against all my better judgement,
this happened....

SIT DOWN
 QUICK

There was a white floor under all that mess!!
 Who would have thought, hey?

ARGH!!!  It's so clean.
I just couldn't help myself.
It started with just a little bag of rubbish
and then

this pile went to the rubbish tip
and the rest was spread around the lounge
Okay, so I won't show you the bad bit around the other corner, might be too much for you all.

See, my plan to take over lounge is working,
MWA HA HA.

In my madness I noticed that I had a bare wall,
so I soon fixed that
with a load of my old pics.

I just hope that my messy room isn't like
Samson's hair.
Cut out the mess and cut out the creativity.
Bah, who am I kidding,
it'll be a mess again in no time.

A little bit of art was done,
think they are finished but I
won't seal them yet.
Lovin these colours.

This sunset is covered in mica paints but they won't photograph so you'll just have to trust me.
 School holidays are over now
so I hope to actually get in and use
my "Studio" before it
becomes a tip again.

Well, that's all my shock and excitement
for this wednesday,
now why don't you hop over to
and see all the other desks around
the world today.

P.S. Sorry about all the photo's Julia
but I had to document this problem
to warn others of the terrible
Spring has Sprung bug.
